Final Hour by Dean Koontz is the second short story leading up to a full-length novel entitled Ashley Bell.

Final Hour again hi-lites the special gift of Makani,  who by touch alone, can tell your deepest “unpleasant” thoughts/secrets.  She avoids contact with anyone.  But when she reaches out to save a woman from an accident, she sees a girl who plans to starve her twin sister to death.  This of course, requires Makani (and her friend Pogo) to intervene.  The twist at the end surprised me.

A fast read leaving you looking forward to the main event.

“It’s the sanest thing of all to live your life with the understanding that every hour may be the final hour.”
