3:59 by Gretchen McNeil
3:59 by Gretchen McNeil is a Young-Adult Science Fiction book.
Josie feels she may be going just a little crazy. Between her parents divorcing and her boyfriend Nick acting strange, she is dreaming of another identical girl named Jo, who’s parents are fine and Nick is in love with her. But she is starting to doubt that it is a dream. At 3:59am and 3:59pm every day, she can look into her mirror and “see” Jo. When both Josie and Jo see each other, they realize they are living in parallel worlds.
When the opportunity arises, they decide to swap worlds for a day. Josie finds that things are not quite the way Jo had implied, and Jo has sealed the road to home.
The concept is really great, and maybe if I was young I would have ranked it higher, but we’ll never know. The characters seemed a little flat, as did the writing. But, again, I really liked the plot.
