Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

Published: 2005

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer is the 1st in this series.

This series deserves the 5 star rating as a young adult paranormal series.  The writing is good.  The love story is good.  The battle between good and evil is good.

This book introduces us to Bella Swan, a 17 year old who moved to Portland to live with her Dad.  She is shy but a little rebellious, she is awkward and clutzy, she is bright but a little naive, she is alone in a new town. She is a typical teenager.  She is fascinated by Edward Cullen and his family.

With the help of Jacob Black, a family friend, she finds out the Cullens are vampires.  Bella doesn’t care.  Although they have a rough start,  Bella and Edward fall in love.   Both families have problems with this relationship to different degrees.  Her Dad has problems with it, and he doesn’t even know Edward is a vampire!  When a rival band of vampires appear, they don’t have the same “ethics” as the Cullens.  They would just as soon kill Bella.  The Cullens will do everything they can to stop this.

These books are re-printed again and again.  They were made into graphic novels, and best-selling feature films.  These things do not happen unless the basis of the book is good.  So all you naysayers, give Twilight a try!

Favorite Quotes from Twilight:

“Twilight, again. Another ending. No matter how perfect the day is, it always has to end.”

“And so the lion fell in love with the lamb…” he murmured. I looked away, hiding my eyes as I thrilled to the word.
“What a stupid lamb,” I sighed.
“What a sick, masochistic lion.”

“How old are you?”
“Seventeen,” he answered promptly.
“And how long have you been seventeen?”
His lips twitched as he stared at the road. “A while,” he admitted at last.”
