I have two problems with this book. This story was more about FBI Agent Quinn and Victims Advocate Kate Conlon. Yes, Detectives Kovac and Liska were part of it, but definitely not the main characters in this book, so I’m wondering why this is called the Kovac and Liska series. Okay, I’ve said my piece. Going forward with the books, I wonder if this will change. The second problem was that it was long!
That being said, it was a really good book. Plot twists were plentiful, the characters were “real”, and the writing was great.
When the daughter of a local billionaire goes missing while a serial killer is on the loose, FBI Agent John Quinn is called in. A young girl comes running out of the park where the latest victim had just been lit on fire, and Kate Conlon is put in charge of finding out what she knows. Unfortunately, Angie DiMarco is a troubled teen who doesn’t trust anyone, and Kate Conlon “doesn’t handle children”. To make matters worse, John Quinn is partially responsible for Kate’s divorce, as they had an affair five years ago. Between the powers that be sharing information with the missing girl’s father, his lack of co-operation with the police, and the politics within the police department, this case is going to test them all.
Again, the writing made you feel you really knew the characters, and although the book was long, it was fast-paced. Very suspenseful! Give it a read!
