Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling is the 2nd in the Series.

I will never be able to say enough good things about this series. Young or old, it is a must read.

In this one, we meet Dobby, a house elf, who comes to the Dursleys to warn Harry not to return to Hogwarts School of Witchraft and Wizardry, or something bad will happen.  Harry is not impressed, especially when he realizes Dobby is the reason he hasn’t heard from his friends over the summer.  When he and Ron can’t get through to meet the train, it becomes evident that something doesn’t want him at Hogwarts.  They end up taking the flying car, and landing in a massive willow tree on the grounds of Hogwarts (which tries to kill them).  A new teacher, Gilderoy Lockhart has arrived,  Harry starts hearing voices, a great monster is supposedly in the Chamber of Secrets (which has been opened), and rumours are flying as who the heir of Slytherin House may be.  When a young girl goes missing, it will be up to Harry to save the day (with a little help from some friends).

The books are so entertaining, and the characters so fun!  The whole premise of a school to study magic, and with wands!  How can you not want to be there!  Oh, and the writing is really good too.

Favorite Quotes from The Chamber of Secrets:

“The chamber has been opened. Enemies of the heir, beware.”

“What exactly is the function of a rubber duck?”

“It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.”

“Hearing voices no one else can hear isn’t a good sign, even in the wizarding world.”
