The Outcast Dead by Elly Griffiths is the 6th in the Ruth Galloway Series.

I loved this book. I love this series, and I love the way Elly Griffiths keeps it fresh…it could be very stuffy if all Ruth did was excavate dead bodies. The characters are real — flaws and all, and her characters do have flaws. As always, the book was a fast read, and time well spent !

In this one, Ruth uncovers the body of “Mother Hook” who was hung many years ago for killing 5 children. A television crew wants Ruth and the recovery to become part of their “Women Who Kill Series” with expert (and very attractive) historian Frank Barker.

Meanwhile Nelson is investigating crimes against children. Three young children have died in one family over the years and Nelson is sure the mother is responsible. When a child is abducted, the hunt is on for “The Childminder”.  Are these things related?

Then there is the Judith and Cathbad story…

A lot going on in this one. Really Good!
