The Janus Stone by Elly Griffiths
The Janus Stone by Elly Griffiths is the 2nd Ruth Galloway Mystery Series.
Another good mystery. In this one, archaeologist Ruth is called to look at some old bones that were discovered during the demolition of an old mansion to make way for new luxury condos. The bones belong to a young girl. No head is found. Upon further investigation they learn that the previous building was a Catholic children’s home and that two children had gone missing. But the location of the bones are also interesting. Someone wants the investigation stopped.
On the home front, Ruth is 3 months pregnant, with Nelson’s child. It turns out you can get pregnant if you only do it once. Nelson is happily married and already has two daughters. This situation could get messy.
The tale also includes lovable Cathbad with his sixth sense and purple robes, as well as Shona and her love-life problems.
I really enjoy the characters and their relationships.
