Finders Keepers by Stephen King
Finders Keeps by Stephen King is the second in the Bill Hodges series.
This second novel again features Bill Hodges (retired detective), and his two side-kicks – now college-aged Jerome, and a 40-something neurotic Holly. Even Brady Hartfield (Mr. Mercedes), is in the background. However, this trio do not actually “run” the book.
This story flips between Morris Bellamy (a thief, and murderer of a famous author) and Pete Stauber (a teenager who finds the loot that Morris hid before getting sent to prison for another crime). Morris and Pete share a common love….the loot that Morris stole — not the money, but the books….and they both want them for their own. Now that Morris is out of prison, he assumed his loot would be right where he left it. However, Pete has been using the money to help out his family, and coveting the books for his own.
Bill and his team get drawn into this mess and may solve a cold case while saving the Stauber family.
Interesting to the end. And plenty of fore-shadowing for Book 3.
