Wayward by Blake Crouch
Wayward by Blake Crouch is the second in the Wayward Pines trilogy.
I am hooked.
I will assume you have read the first book so that nothing that appears here is a spoiler. Note that I have not watched the television program, so this is all book based. I still love this series.
So this book follows closely after the first. Our new Sheriff Ethan Burke is having a few problems adjusting. It’s bad enough that he is held prisoner within a town that has an electrified fence running around it, and people are micro-chipped, told what to do, what to say, and are videotaped 24/7. He is one of the few that has seen what is outside the fence, and knows that they would all surely die if left to their own defenses, and he can’t even discuss this with his wife. However, he can’t quite condone the sacrifices they are making to stay alive, and he hates his new boss – the creator of the town. So he starts to break some rules. Then there is the matter of the dead body he finds. The solution he arrives at may kill them all.
This book is entertaining from beginning to end….which is a cliff hanger!!!! Not sure I like that part, but it definitely means I’ll read the final book.
Favorite Quote from Wayward: “Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That’s why it’s called the present. Work hard, be happy, and enjoy your life in Wayward Pines!”
