The Golem of Paris by Jonathan & Jesse Kellerman
The Golem of Paris by Jonathan & Jesse Kellerman is the second in a detective/paranormal series featuring LAPD Detective Jacob Lev.
At the end of the first novel, Jacob found out his Mother is actually alive (although in a nursing home and mentally unstable), and the history of his family has been withheld from him. At this point he cannot forgive his father, and has started drinking again.
The Special Projects department has given him brainless work, but Mai is in the background pointing him silently in the direction of an old cold case involving the murder of a mother and son.
Jacob ends up in Paris following leads, and finds more than he bargained for. He seems to have found some missing links to his mothers past as well as a ruthless killer.
This series is not your typical Jonathan Kellerman novel. Whether it is the influence of his son Jesse, or if it is something he’s wanted to try for a while, it is good news for book lovers.
