Pines by Blake Crouch
Pines by Blake Crouch is the first in a trilogy about the town of Wayward Pines.
When Secret Service Agent Ethan Burke is sent to Wayward Pines to locate two missing agents, nothing is as it seems. Just entering town he is hit by a mack truck, ends up in the hospital, and awakes to find the medical staff very secretive. Fearing for his safety, he leaves the hospital without ID, Cell Phone or money. The Sheriff’s office is no help, and seems to have anger issues. Ethan can’t reach either his wife or the Agency. He also, apparently can’t leave town. Although people seem nice, everything is a little “off”.
So that’s the premise of the first in the series. It is a fast-paced read — although at one point one of his escape attempts seemed to go on and on and on….a little too explicit about bending his leg this way, and pushing off, and…. On the whole though, I did enjoy it, and look forward to the second book.
